New Citizen Swear-in Ceremony
07/24/2008 10:00am
Campbell Community Center - Heritage Theater, 1 West Campbell Avenue in Campbell (off Winchester), Campbell/Cupertino/Saratoga/Los Gatos

Help deliver a welcome from the Democratic Party to brand new Americans. It's a great place to show off your foreign language skills. Naturalization ceremonies take place starting at 10:30am, 1:15pm & 3:30pm, each lasting about an hour. We need to be ready about 45 minutes before each group goes in...... The main opportunity for us is to distribute Democratic Party literature. Most voter registration takes place inside the event, assisted by the Registrar of Voters...... This is really a festive and inspiring day. The first 2 sessions are the busiest, with the 800 seat Heritage Theater packed with both new citizens and their families. 1200-1400 citizens are processed in total. People pour out all at once at the end times, with some milling about for well wishes, so the best time to reach them is as they queue up to enter...... Meet at ~10:00am (in front of the Heritage Theater, by the fountains), or come later and stay for as long as you're able...... Parking gets tight; try nearby neighborhood streets. Or beat the parking hassle -- Campbell Community Center has excellent transit access; it's right on lines 26 and 60, and about a half-mile or so walk from the Light Rail station. See VTA website www.vta.org for schedule information...... Registration supplies and local party literature provided. There’s a nearby sandwich/snack bar operating all day. Good ideas: an umbrella or sun protection, comfortable clothes, and water...... Please call 408-219-4896 or e-mail volunteer@sccdp.org to sign up or for more info.
