President Obama: "Right to Work" laws mean "right to work for less money"
Speaking to workers at the Daimler Detroit Diesel plant in Michigan, President Obama condemned so-called "right to work" laws as harmful to a strong middle class. Taking away the right to bargain for better wages and work conditions, said the president, has little to do with economics and "everything to do with politics." When politicians talk about "right to work" laws, "what they're really talking about is giving you the right to work for less money," he argued. Michigan is poised to become the 24th state to ban automatic payroll deduction of union dues.
